SAMPLING EVENT METADATA (A)

Home > Workflow > Metadata > Sampling event metadata (A)

The sampling event metadata contains information about each sampling event, including spatial, temporal and environmental information.

  1. SAMPLING EVENT ID
Unique identifier defined by the field researcher. Each sampling event (unique location and date) must receive a different identifier specified by the sampler. This identifier enables relating sampled animals (Metadata B1) to its corresponding sampling event.
    e.g. 020501_Berlin1
  2. COUNTRY
Country in which the sampling event took place.
    e.g. Germany
  3. REGION
Region in which the sampling event took place. The description of region is flexible, and it could contain administrative regions as well as geographical region, or both.
    e.g. Pyrenees
  4. DATE
Date where the sampling event tool place. If the sampling event spans two days (overnight sampling), use the date the sampling event started. Sampling events cannot last more than 24h. If sampling campaings last more than 24h, use a different Sampling Event ID for each event. Use the following standard format: YYYY/MM/DD
    e.g. 2020/10/06
  5. LATITUDE
Geographical latitude (north-south) in which the sampling was carried out with 5 decimals of resolution.
    e.g. 46.55289, -23.35573
  6. LONGITUDE
Geographical longitude (west-east) in which the sampling was carried out with 5 decimals of resolution.
    e.g. 5.34454, -1.23325
  7. BIOME ONTOLOGY
Biome classification that best describes the ecosystem in which the sampling took place. The unique identifier has to be selected from the following list of Environmental Ontology. It is enough to write the 4 last digits of the IRI: ENVO:01000252.
    e.g. 0252.
  8. ENVIRONMENTAL FEATURES
    Details
  9. WEATHER
    Details
  10. TEMPERATURE
    Details
  11. NOTES
Miscellaneous information other than specified above.
